Utah or Mars ?

We recently made a trip to south eastern Utah for
some hiking, some quiet in the vast open
spaces and some
stargazing.
At times,  we thought we might be on Mars.

Dodging Tornados

Recently, my daughter and I made a 2,000+ mile road trip
from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Asheville, North Carolina to
visit an auntie who will soon be 85.
The direct, straight line route is I-40 door to door.
Part of I-40, especially through Oklahoma, is
known as "Tornado Alley".
When we left we knew there would be bad weather
following us - we did not know how bad it
would be.
As we approached Oklahoma City we saw the biggest cloud
either of us had ever seen on the horizon.
Very Scary!
Here it is below.

View of the cloud from under it and up through the sunroof of the car

The blobs of cloud hung down like elongated cotton balls.

Needing fuel east of Oklahoma City we pulled into a Love's Gas station in Shawnee, Ok.
After getting gas we noticed a field of wild flowers so stopped to
take some photos and to stretch our legs.
As we were photographing we noticed some folks around the
gas pumps looking skyward and saying things like:
"which direction is it coming from"?
We decided that we had better get going because a storm was near.

To make this long story longer -  when we arrived at our motel in Van Buren,
Arkansas that evening we found that the place where we had gotten gas
had been severely hit by a tornado and I-40 was closed because of flying cars and overturned Big Rig trucks!

The following day a larger tornado destroyed Moore, Ok

Our guardian angel had been with us.

Ancient History

We have always been dog people
Robbie was our second one
after Tom & I met.

We were on a camping trip in the 70's and this little 12 week
old guy went with us.

Knitting

My friend Robyn made
me a gift of her
lovely hand spun yarn.
A beautiful, long and soft
scarf it will be.

Gone To The Dogs

My Life and my chair
are not my own any more.
Take note of my knitting bag
(neglected)
on the back of the chair.
Perhaps the pups
will take up knitting.

About Me

My photo
Santa Fe, New Mexico
I live in New Mexico, I love dogs and I love to knit and read and be out doors and sleep with my window open all year long. I paint birds which I then turn into greeting cards and books for people of all ages who have a good sense of humor.
